2012 National Value Added Ag Conference in Traverse City, MI June 24-26

Join economic development specialists from around the country for a wealth of information about rural development, partnerships that make economic development successful and tips on how to manage clients more effectively.
The goal of the conference is to learn about the process that leads to successful rural development projects so that Farm Bureau groups can achieve similar results. Conference participants will have the opportunity over the three days to interact with innovative business owners and economic developers from throughout Michigan and around the U.S. to discuss rural entrepreneurism, adding value to agricultural products, agritourism and rural economic development.
Farm Bureau staff and leaders are encouraged to share a program or project from their state at the National Value Added Agriculture Conference. A 3-hour session on Sunday afternoon, June 24, has been allocated to share state programs and success stories. This session will allow Farm Bureaus to learn how other state Farm Bureaus are developing value-added agriculture and community building programs to enhance the quality of life for rural residents, increase income for farmers and ranchers, and enable Farm Bureau to better serve the rural non-farm members. State Farm Bureaus will be responsible for registration, travel and lodging. The conference registration deadline is June 10. The registration fee includes a welcome reception Sunday evening, lunch and dinner on Monday, and lunch on Tuesday.
